Entry Requirements

Postgraduate Taught Courses: (Diploma, MA, MSc, LLM)

Course entry requirements to study in the UK vary according to the course and institution. For many taught master courses you need qualifications that prove you will be able to study successfully. Many international qualifications meet entrance requirements to various master courses.

UniAdmission will assist you in establishing the approximate UK equivalent of your qualifications.

Most institutions require an equivalent to a British first degree in a relevant subject for entry to a postgraduate diploma or Masters degree. For example, you would be expected to have a first degree in Physics before taking an MSc in Physics. However, there are some exceptions to this, where graduates in any discipline are accepted and no prior specialist knowledge of the subject is assumed. Entry standards are very high because of the extent of specialization, so in some cases students are asked to take a taught postgraduate course before beginning a research programme (PhD) or a diploma before progressing to a Masters course. Some institutions offer bridging courses for postgraduate admission, which increase a student's chances of being accepted on a postgraduate course; in some circumstances, successful completion of the bridging course may guarantee a place on the postgraduate course, but policies differ and students are advised to check the position with UniAdmission.

If the process seems overwhelming, remember: there are usually just FOUR STEPS to accomplish:

1 First Degree First degree in a relevant subject, required grades depend on course and quality of institution.
2 English Language Institutions vary in their English language entry requirements. Usual requirements are: IELTS at grade 6, TOEFL (paper-based) 550, or Cambridge CPE at grade C.
3 References Approach two referees and ask each one to write a full reference on official letterhead paper about your personal qualities, work and career to date.
4 Application Complete our standard on-line application form.

The UniAdmission Postgraduate ON-LINE Application can simplify the application process. It lets you apply online to some of the best postgraduate programs in Britain, checks for accuracy and completeness. The on-line form is standard and is acceptable to all our Partner Universities.

Important Note:It is important to ensure that you send all the above documents, as the delay caused in having to seek any missing documents from you might adversely delay and prejudice your application. If your degree and/or English Language verification are to be obtained, any offer made to you will be conditional.
